Nestled on the side of a mountain, surrounded by tropical vegetation and a private stretch of beach, you’ll find Las Brisas Ixtapa. This secluded resort, situated just south of the main hotel strip in the resort town of Ixtapa, Guerrero, Mexico, is an excellent hotel for a peaceful getaway with all the amenities of a larger resort.
The hotel recently underwent a $16 million renovation of their accommodations. All of the new Deluxe Grand rooms now have pillow top beds, a private sitting area with a couch and a table for two, new bathrooms, mini bars, and flat screen TVs. In addition, all rooms feature oversized terraces with hammocks and full ocean views.
With lush tropical grounds unmatched by any property in the area, and a spectacular private stretch of beach, Las Brisas Ixtapa is a wonderful choice for a destination wedding. The privacy of the beach, away from the bustle of the main hotel strip, makes it one of the best places for a beach wedding in Ixtapa. Here you won’t be bombarded by hundreds of tourists gawking at your wedding, or hassled by strolling beach vendors. Instead, you can enjoy a quiet ceremony by the ocean in the beauty of Mexico’s surroundings.
For your reception, you can host your dinner on the beach, or on the terrace that overlooks the pools. The terrace spot is particularly good for receptions because it is fairly removed and private, but still features an ocean view. If you prefer a garden reception, the hotel has a large green space in the middle of the property that can also host wedding receptions.
Even though there are over 400 guest rooms, the hotel is very quiet. The lush grounds attract a large variety of birds that add to the tropical feel of the hotel, and the beach is quiet and secluded. Since the property is so large, be prepared for a great deal of walking to your room and down the hill to get to the beach. If you have elderly or wheelchair-bound guests coming to your wedding, this may be a consideration.
At Las Brisas Ixtapa you can choose the all-inclusive plan, which includes unlimited food and beverages at the hotel. Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo have no shortage of excellent restaurants if you are willing to explore the area, but if you like the convenience of eating at the hotel, you may want to consider purchasing the all-inclusive plan since the food at the hotel is quite expensive. When we stayed at the hotel in March 2007, the breakfast buffet cost $195 pesos (approx. $20 USD) per person, and dinner was priced at $1,250 pesos (approx. $125 USD) per couple.
Unquestionably this is one of the best hotels in Ixtapa, and since it is carried by tour operators in Canada and the USA, you can book it at very affordable rates. Las Brisas Ixtapa is one of the few hotels in Ixtapa where you can enjoy full ocean views from every room, private balconies with hammocks to relax, and the peacefulness of a secluded beach.
